June 2017, Jorge Sanchez will receive Academic Excellence Award at commencement

Jorge Sanchez, who is a senior Bioengineering undergraduate student working with Cheyann Wetteland in LIU lab, will receive Academic Excellence Award at commencement 2017 in recognize of his excellence in academic achievement.

On May 3rd, 2017, Jonathan Zhang presented in Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium in UCR. He is an undergraduate student from Mechanical Engineering and works with Naiyin Zhang in LIU lab. His presentation was entitled "Design of electromagnetic field generating device for study of stem cell behavior". His research is funded by STEM success award.

Congratulations to Jose Mendez on being selected into MARC U STAR Program!

Jose Mendez (middle) is a second year undergrad researcher from Mechanical Engineering. He is currently working with his graduate mentors Tim Tian (right), and Dana Rutherford (left) for different projects. He is proficient in using Solidworks and 3D printer. He participated in developing a loading device for in vitro test of orthopedics and dental implants. Jose has won several prestigious awards due to his excellent academic and research performance, such as Hispanic Servicing Institution award.

Jorge Sanchez has been working closely with Cheyann Wetteland, on the synthesis of a   thermoreversible hydrogel. He has earned numerous scholarships including the Highlander Excellence Award and the Dr. Manuela and Mr. Randy Sosa Inland Empire Scholarship. Mr. Sanchez has also been a mentor with the Upward Bound program in the larger Riverside community since September 2015, in which he acts as a mentor as well as tutor for a variety of subjects including calculus, biology, and chemistry.
